The prophet Amos gave this decree during a time of intense prosperity for the wealthy while the poor were being heavily taxed. Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King echoed this prophetic decree turning it into one of the most famous declarations on civil rights for the descendants of African American slaves and for disenfranchised humanity all over the world.
On Election Day, November 3, 2026, I thank God that the scent of water, i.e., the Holy Spirit brought forth a Blue Wave in America demanding ethics in government. This was also a moral call to action regardless of one’s religious background. It’s an adherence to the Golden Rule, the universal tenet to love your neighbor as yourself found in most religions and creeds through the ages.
Another prophetic warning of Dr. King still rings loudly in 2026, “We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools.” In this age in which mankind can be “obliterated” by the press of a nuclear button, my prayer is that we would heed the warnings of the Prophet Amos and Dr. King. The call to action is that we must be our brother’s keeper. It is not a call for Socialism or Communism, it’s simply following the words of Jesus to be a Good Samaritan to those who have been left to die on the Jericho roads of life.
Thank you to all who made the choice on Election Day to be the hands and feet of Jesus, On the cross he said, “It is finished.” You displayed your belief to follow him and be the change you want to see in the world, to carry on his redemptive work for all mankind.
“Let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty river.” (Amos 5:24)
