“In The Year That King Uzziah Died I Saw The Lord.”~ Prayer and Blessing for My Beloved

Is the year that King Uzziah died a historical event marking the time when the prophet Isaiah received his call during a national crisis of leadership and security? Or is it an allegory—a metaphor informing us of the present-day stumbling blocks that stand in the way of the world seeing the Lord, the Creator of the universe, and understanding life itself? Is mankind so entangled with earthly visions that they prevent us from understanding our mortality, our dot in time, our existence as a fleeting moment?

Since the beginning of time, kings, rulers, leaders, authority figures, world systems, wars and rumors of wars have come and gone. Each one of us, like Isaiah, is afforded the opportunity to have our own “Come to Jesus” moment—an existential reckoning of who God is, or is not, to us. I believe that the enemy of this world seeks to steal, kill, and destroy our connection, our reckoning, and our eventual return home to the Creator of the universe.

A return to the One who is responsible for the unknown gravitational pull that keeps the average human’s 37.2 trillion cells intact and functioning each day. The amazing autonomic system that allows us to breathe and digest the food that fuels our bodies, and the somatic nervous system that allows our minds and hearts to experience the beauty of life.

Have you received your Isaiah call—your “Here am I, Lord; send me”—or are you asking for self-indulgent blessings? What does it take for you to see God? What must you die to so that your holy stump, your holy seed, will come forth?

“In the year of the death of King Uzziah, I saw also the Lord sitting upon an high throne, and lifted up, and the lower parts thereof filled the Temple.” (Isaiah 6:1)
